Background
The Nevada Museum of Art aimed to enhance the visitor experience for its exhibit on architect William L. Pereira. My role was to design and develop an Augmented Reality (AR) experience in collaboration with UEBERSEE, Los Angeles, and LAYAR, Amsterdam.
Approach
I conceptualized and implemented an AR mobile app to interact with the exhibit's timeline mural. The app triggered video content on users' smartphones as they scanned specific markers on the mural, seamlessly integrating physical and digital elements.
Outcome
The AR experience boosted visitor engagement, received positive feedback, and deepened understanding of Pereira's work. Successful collaboration between partners showcased the power of immersive technology in cultural institutions.
Results
Increased Engagement
Longer engagement times and enhanced interaction with the exhibit.
Positive Feedback
High visitor satisfaction and appreciation for the innovative storytelling approach.
Enhanced Learning
Deeper understanding of Pereira's life and architectural contributions.
Collaborative Success
Effective teamwork among partners highlighted the potential of immersive technology in museums.
Conclusion
The AR experience for the William L. Pereira exhibit demonstrated the impact of immersive technology in enhancing cultural experiences. Through innovative design and collaboration, we created a dynamic exhibit that captivated visitors and provided valuable insights into Pereira's legacy.
